Coreyne Woodman-Holoubek: Contracted Leadership: What motivated you to start your business?

  • The motivation to start Contracted Leadership with my husband came from my personal experience working and leading in the corporate world as an HR professional. It was frustrating when top-level leaders did not understand, or underestimated, the innate strengths of their people and thus not develop them properly. At the same time, there were many employees that did not understand their own innate strengths and, thus, were often misguided by their leaders. We believed the issue was a lack of knowing how to do something about it and stemmed from not having an advocate or leader to address both sides in a constructive and sustainable manner. The idea was to create a third party organization, that was in a unique position to help these organizations and employees work together more effectively, creating mutually meaningful work engagements.
  • We also wanted to create a business model that would reflect work-life synchrony. Where your work is your passion and reflects your life purpose. Which synchronizes the life you want to have and the impact you want to make in life. This was not only for ourselves but also for our contracted leaders. Our contracted leaders choose to work with us instead of pursuing a permanent position with another company because they sincerely appreciate what we are doing. They feel that what we are doing is innovative and provides them flexibility in their personal and professional lives. From this concept, we are better equipped to be authentic leaders, with a focus on empathy, the impact we want to make our own personal measure of what success looks like.
